Intellectual Charm on Capitol Hill

Sophisticated yet inviting, the 153-room Capitol Hill Hotel completed a full guestroom renovation, marking the final stage of a three-part renovation and setting its transformation into a quintessential Independent Collection (IC) hotel back in 2014. The new guestrooms, designed by New York-based firm datumzero, deliver a ‘Federalist chic' feel, mixing historic elements into an overall modern scheme. Shades of white fill the rooms; a black trim adds dimension and colorful accents lend the rooms personality: a red leather wingback chair catches the eye while a gray zebra-striped desk chair adds flair. The walls are adorned with prints of works by classic American artists including Diebenkorn, Rothko and Warhol.
Capitol Hill Hotel Before
Capitol Hill Hotel After
Capitol Hill Hotel has long been a mainstay in the Capitol Hill Historic District, and with the completion of its new design, the hotel truly brings the neighborhood inside. It is a place that senators give a nod to on their way to vote, that lobbyists admire on their way home from a productive day on the Hill, and that tourists gather at en route to see the sights of our nation's capital. With its charming and intellectual air, the corner of C Street and 2nd Street SE reads more neighborhood than landmark, even though the Library of Congress sits directly across the street.
